In this video, team members representing multiple clinics and roles discussed what it’s like to work at Ember Health for The Ember Project, an award-shortlisted docuseries created by Chandler Kauffman

Hear from Dr. Lubabah Ben-Ghaly former Clinical Director at Brooklyn Heights, Upper East Side Senior Infusion Nurse Christey Curran, Chelsea Operations Administrator Aruna Singh, and Manager of Strategic Initiatives Stephanie Wang as they share their experiences working with an extraordinary team and remarkable patients at Ember. Co-Founder Tiffany Franke discusses the commitment to compassionate care-giving, thoughtful attention to detail, and personal and professional excellence that are embedded in the culture of Ember Health.

The objective of the Ember Project is to raise awareness about how IV ketamine works to treat depression, and who it may help. The commitment, compassion, and attention to detail our team describes here is what we strive to provide for every patient in our care.

You can read the team’s full video transcript below.

Dr. Lu Ben-Ghaly [Clinician]: Working at Ember is very different from working in any other medical environment that I've ever worked in. It is honestly the way I wish medicine looked more broadly. I spend way more time actually interacting as a human being, face-to-face with my patients, as opposed to just typing away doing endless paperwork. It really feels like a more humane way to practice medicine.

Dr. Nico Grundmann [Co-founder & Medical Director]: I am incredibly proud of the team that we have here at Ember Health. We ensure that anybody who comes and works with us has an ethos about trying to help, has an ability to make a difference in a person's life, has a goal of theirs to try to help people.

Dr. Lu Ben-Ghaly [Clinician]: My name is Dr. Lu Ben-Ghaly. I'm one of the MDs that work here managing the various clinics, treating the patients, supervising all of the infusions, making sure everything runs safely and smoothly.

Christey Curran [Infusion Nurse]: My name's Christey Curran. I am an infusion nurse, so I sit with the patients during their infusions. I monitor their medical safety and support them psychologically through the experience.

Aruna Singh [Operations Administrator]: My name is Aruna, and I'm an office administrator here at Ember Health. The administrator is responsible for scheduling, helping with insurance, helping to ensure that care coordination is happening.

Stephanie [Manager of Strategic Initiatives]: I'm Stephanie. I've been with Ember for five years, and I'm currently the manager of strategic initiatives. I really help lead the charge in hosting our Annual All Team Learning Day, which is a day where we close all of our clinics. We all come together as an organization and really focus on honing different skills, being together, bonding.

Tiffany [Co-founder & Chief Experience Officer]: At Ember Health, we look for people who are compassionate caregivers, who believe in thoughtful attention to detail, and who want to commit to professional excellence and being their personal best.

Aruna Singh [Operations Administrator]: We genuinely care about the patients, our patients, and we care about each other.

Stephanie [Manager of Strategic Initiatives]: It is really such a special experience, and a really rare experience, to find a workplace filled with people that are so kind, thoughtful, caring, genuinely really care for their patients and really care about the work that they're doing.

Tiffany [Co-founder & Chief Experience Officer]: One of our core philosophies at Ember Health is to support and to be supported. This service orientation, the service mindset, and this mission-driven approach to work – it's in our DNA at Ember Health.

Christey Curran [Infusion Nurse]: Everyone is so helpful and so supportive to one another, but also to our patients. We really truly just want to do what's right by them and support them however we can. And everyone is also extremely competent and qualified.

Tiffany [Co-founder & Chief Experience Officer]: All of our team members also share a thoughtful attention to detail. No detail is too small to focus on when it comes to potentially leading to better outcomes for our patients.

Aruna Singh [Operations Administrator]: It's little things, like these little details, that may be easy to overlook, but it makes such a difference. It always feels like you can take any questions or concerns, or raise a suggestion on how something could be done differently, and it's taken seriously.

Tiffany [Co-founder & Chief Experience Officer]: We want to attract people here at Ember Health who want to be their best selves. We write performance reviews on a regular basis. We give structured feedback, and we want people to lean into opportunities.

Stephanie [Manager of Strategic Initiatives]: I've just learned so much, and I've grown so much as an individual and professionally. I've felt like my growth has been really prioritized here at Ember. It's always an open conversation of really taking into consideration what excites me, what are areas of the business that I'm really interested in that I feel would be great growth opportunities for myself.

Christey Curran [Infusion Nurse]: My work here at Ember, I do believe, has changed me as a person. It has made me more patient and compassionate and understanding. It is such a unique nursing position, and being able to really give my attention and care to one person is the reason why I went into nursing, to be able to really treat my patients like humans, not like a checklist.

Stephanie [Manager of Strategic Initiatives]: One thing that has been really humbling and gratifying about working here at Ember is being exposed to so many of our patients' stories, how they're able to regain their lives back.

Aruna Singh [Operations Administrator]: It's very moving to know that sitting at the front desk that you play such an integral part in this person feeling comfortable and safe.

Dr. Lu Ben-Ghaly [Clinician]: What really inspires me about this work is bettering people's lives. To be able to have a job that actively combats despair is really wonderful and, really, a privilege. Being able to work here, honestly, has been a huge blessing to my life personally, because it shows us what medicine could look like under more ideal circumstances.
